Breaded fish filet served with coleslaw, roasted corn & red pepper medley and french fries. Three eggs scrambled with chopped jalapeƱos, onions and tomatoes. This Chile Relleno had an excellent non-greasy batter and was served with no sauce on top (although you can get sauce at an extra cost). I like these rellenos very much, but they were just not as spicy as they could be.

The Red Enchilada side of the stack had what tasted like a thickener in it that reminded me of the enchiladas in southeastern New Mexico (such as Roswell). However, I think they just used a small amount and the taste of the red chile was still there.

They have a separate gluten-free menu so be sure to ask for it. I don’t think the queso is on the gluten-free menu, but the last time I was there, I asked about the ingredients and it turned out that I was able to eat it. Three eggs scrambled with bell peppers and sausage.

The hot dogs are part of the “Mexican” part of the menu (and are not available across the street in the big restaurant, but everything else on the menu is the same at both places). On a previous visit to the regular Andele Restaurant I had what I believed to be its specialty–tacos al carbon. The other part of the menu, though, is New Mexican cuisine including local style enchiladas and chile rellenos. Tender slices of flame-broiled pork, beef or chicken on a sandwich roll baked especially for Andele. Piled high with lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese. 1 Rolled enchilada (green), 1 chile relleno, 1 beef flauta, green chile con carne with potatoes, beans and rice.

However, the melted cheese here is very unique and I did like the chile flavor, so the enchiladas are now on my rotation if I can come to Las Cruces often enough to try different restaurants. I do think the green ones are better though (they either have no cumin or very little so that I did not really taste it in the green chile). Two scrambled eggs with your choice of bacon, ham, sausage or chorizo, wrapped in a freshly made flour tortilla from the Andele Tortilleria. Choose from Traditional or “A La Mexicana” style with jalapeƱos, tomatoes and onions.

A bed of iceberg and romaine lettuce topped with grilled chicken, tomato wedges, avocado and radishes. Topped with mushrooms, green chile, grilled onions, mozzarella cheese and chile con queso. First of all, it is an outdoor restaurant with walls and a roof, but also plenty of open wall space to allow outside air in. Secondly, it has a self-serve salsa and chips bar with 5 types of salsa. Wife got fish tacos, and I got 1/2 chicken, and we shared. Also on the “Mexican” side of the menu is the Mexican Hot Dog which is loaded with condiments including a pickle and pinto beans, wrapped with bacon, and has a smoky flavor.

The big flaw in the red sauce, though, was that it tasted like it had cumin (and not just a small amount). I know this is a personal taste, but I prefer restaurants such as Nopalito who do not have a cumin taste. The Dog House has the same menu as Andele except that it has added several Mexican style hot dogs.

3 Stacked enchiladas served with beans and rice and your choice of coleslaw or lettuce and tomato. One tostada cup filled with charro beans and your choice of red or green chile con carne and topped with lettuce, tomato and cheese. With your choice of our ranchera, red or green sauce and cheese. Served with refried beans, rice and a flour tortilla. 1/2 Chicken (or 1/4 chicken with baked potato) served on a bed of lettuce with either corn or flour tortillas. Garnished with wedges of avocado and tomato.

I did notice also an absence of seeds inside (another reason these are some of the best in town). Made with three eggs and served with home-style potatoes and choice of toast or flour tortilla. Topped with bacon, avocado, green chile, cheddar cheese and mushrooms. Grilled, bacon-wrapped all beef frank, topped with pinto beans, onions, cheddar cheese and Andele’s famous chile con queso. The Green Enchilada, on the other hand, was one of my favorite items here. It was spicy like the red side, and went well with their unique enchiladas with the melted cheese.

We were driving, so didn’t check out the margaritas, but we will definitely come back here again sometime.
